Tortoise Friends

Tortoises are a favorite among kids.  Our tortoises enjoy basking in the sun on hot summer days, so there's no limitation for outdoor events.
Name: Bennifer
Species: Red Footed Tortoise
Estimated year of hatching: 2008
Native to: South America
​Diet: Fruits, Vegetables, Greens, other vegetation
Origin: Ben was rehomed and likely originates from a tortoise farm.  Ben was discovered to be female so her name was updated to "Bennifer"
​Status: Active Ambassador
Name: Queen Bea
Species: Red Footed Tortoise
Estimated year of hatching: 2003
Native to: South America
​Diet: Fruits, Vegetables, Greens, other vegetation
Origin: Queen Bea was rehomed and likely originates from a tortoise farm.
​Status: Active Ambassador

Species: Russian Tortoise
Estimated year of hatching: 2020
Native to: Southeastern Russia through Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan
​Diet: Fruits, Vegetables, Greens, other vegetation
Origin: Emir was purchased as a two year old subadult from Tortoise Town.
​Status: Active Ambassador

Amphibian Friends

Some of our amphibians are sensitive to heat, so they may not be available for long outdoor events.  Many of them like to stay cool and wet.  Handling is also limited due to their sensitive skins.

Origin: Herbie was purchased at Petco.

Native to: Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and possibly the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Diet: Insects, invertebrates, small rodents, birds, fish, and other amphibians
Origin: Sanaa was purchased as a two month old out of water from Josh's Frogs
